The WHO Ageism Scale
Ageism is everywhere, widespread, and harmful.
To know if we’re making progress in creating #AWorld4AllAges, we need a reliable tool to measure ageism.
But we didn’t have that tool… Until now.
Explore this regularly updated page to learn more about the WHO Ageism Scale: an extensively tested tool designed to help you evaluate the impact of interventions aimed at reducing ageism.
First, start with our manual and user guide:
This manual and user guide for the WHO Ageism Scale is a practical guide for introducing, administering, scoring, and interpreting the scale. It also includes specific guidance on how to translate and validate the scale, and recommends example settings where the scale could be best used. The English versions of the WHO Ageism Scale are included as printable annexes.
The manual and user guide is aimed at researchers, policymakers and government officials, civil society organisations, health and care professionals, and anyone else who has interest in addressing ageism. It is updated regularly as new versions of the scale are developed.
Next, check if the WHO Ageism Scale is available in your language:
This document contains all validated versions of the WHO Ageism Scale in the respective available languages. It is updated regularly as new versions of the scale are developed and tested.
Currently, all language versions contain only the WHO Ageism Experiences Scale, except for English which also contains the WHO Ageism Towards Older Persons Scale.
